There are two eclipses lunar and solar eclipses. A solar eclipse is when the moon block the sunlight to reach the earth and the moon's shadow cover some part of the earth. Solar eclipse happen during the new moon phases. A solar revolution is when the earth revolves around the sun. It take 365 and 1/4 days to complete one revolution. When some part of the sunlight covered by the moon, a partial solar eclipse happen. A partial eclipse happen when the moon is in the penumbra of the earth. When the sunlight completely blocked by the moon it’s called a total solar eclipse. It happen in the umbra of the earth. Lunar revolution is when the moon revolves around the earth. It take 29.6 days to complete one revolution. A lunar eclipse is when the earth's shadow fall in the moon and earth block the sunlight to reach the moon. Lunar eclipse occur during the full moon phases. An umbra is when the moon is entirely covered by the earth. It is the darker part. A total lunar eclipse is when the moon went to earth's shadow and it became red. Penumbra is the lighter part of the earth's shadow where some part is light up by the sunlight. When the moon is partly covered its called a partial lunar eclipse. During the partial lunar eclipse it looks like some part is dark.
Critical Thinking Questions:
A. How do earth's motions affect us each day?
- Earth's motions affect us each day by lots of different way. Earth's rotation is one motion. If the earth didn't rotate, in earth there would be no seasons. The rotation also cause day and night. If the earth didn't rotate one side of the earth will always be dark and extremely cold and another side will always be light and very hot.
B. How do the Sun, Moon, and Earth interact?
- The sun, moon, and the earth is interact with tides. The tides happen because the moons gravity and the sun pull the water on earth towards it causing them rise up and fall. The moon have a bigger effect because it is closer to earth than the sun. They are also interact in eclipses. Solar and Lunar eclipse.
Reflection:
1. What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
- I mostly enjoyed all the parts form researching information to editing and uploading video about the earths movements. The part I most enjoyed was when we film the video. While we were filming we had lot of fun. The most funny part was when one of my group member try to move the props but it didn't move. It happen 2 to 4 times.
2. What was most challenging for you during this project and why?
- The most challenging part during this project was working as group. When we need to work together to bring all the ideas to make a nice video they massed up.
3. What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
- One new skill I learned by doing this project was how to use imovie. Another skill is time management.
